Someone has done some interesting research here into wikipedias complete domination of the Google search engine results, more than likely you have found when searching for something that usually Wikipedia appears in the top 10. For example
Do a search for London, and there it is, sitting at number 3. This bloke has done researcvh on 600 wiki articles and amazingly 580 appeared in the top 10
